Strategic Lidar Monitoring

FOR SLOPE STABILITY AND DESIGN PERFORMANCE

Since 2013, SYPERION has developed and distributed a new and robust system to monitor slopes and dumps permanently in real time. Based on a long distance RIEGL 3D laser scanner, the system monitors changes from a distance of several kilometres.

MONITORING THE STABILITY OF SLOPES AND DUMPS

Open pit mine design seeks to optimize the safe and effective extraction of an orebody. Design assumptions and the stability of the excavated pit slopes are monitored to assess the performance of the slopes and the design. The measurement and evaluation of deformations of benches and slopes are indispensable for movement detection and geotechnical assessment, to enable proactive risk management and mitigation.

This monitoring system is the ideal solution for long-term campaign or strategic monitoring. The data is captured in absolute 3D-coordinates with point precision, accuracy and repeatability.

HORTS Mining Solutions delivers the robust technical infrastructure required to seamlessly integrate the system into even the most demanding mining environments.

Built on decades of mining expertise, our companies combine proven know-how with a strong global track record. With more than 15 installations worldwide, our solutions are engineered for demanding 24/7 operation and have demonstrated reliable performance for over 30 years.

PERMANENT MONITORING

At PERMANENT MONITORING, the scanner is installed at a fixed location and is not moved between the individual measurements. The result of the monitoring is thus generated in real time and a high degree of automation can be guaranteed.

REVISITED MONITORING

At REVISITED MONITORING, the location for setting up the scanner is visited at intervals. The scanner is positioned at a stable installation location. This enables fast measurements with low demands to the infrastructure. A comparability between the measurements is achieved by constant measuring points.

PERIODIC MONITORING

At PERIODIC MONITORING, the location for setting up the scanner is visited at intervals. The position of the scanner is defined by a mounting device firmly anchored to the ground. The position and orientation of the scanner show good repeatability between measurements. This allows fast measurements with low demands to the infrastructure.

MOBILE MONITORING

At MOBILE MONITORING the scanner is mounted directly on a slowly moving large device, such as an excavator. The scanner moves with the object, detects the surroundings of the large device and immediately reports movements of the slopes.
